ABOUT US

Sometimes it’s not clear what it is that gets us to the point of knowing something needs to change, but we just know we can't keep going as we have been. I am a licensed therapist. I have been in practice for 10+ years. For therapy to be effective, the client must feel emotionally secure with the therapist as well as have confidence in her ability. Ultimately, I believe this matters more than the therapist's orientation. With my clients, I am a focused listener who seeks to get to the heart of the problem in an empathic and direct way. I create a safe environment in which to explore painful emotions and conflicts.

Also, I am interested in exploring a person's strengths and resources that can be accessed to solve problems, lead more fulfilling and connected lives. My approach to advising clients is influenced by cognitive-behavioral, brief solution focused, and use of stress reduction principles and strategies.

Your sessions go with the flow of your needs and unique individual personality. We invite you to feel comfortable being yourself in a safe and accepting setting, actively participating in your learning new perspectives.”

My Approach to Helping

As a result of working together, you'll learn to develop more satisfying emotional relationships, navigate life transitions, and clarify your wants and desires. You'll explore what's most important to you and identify what you would like to see different in your future. I'll encourage you to take a closer look at your life today and to identify how themes and patterns of the past may be getting in your way. Isn't it time to live your life to its fullest?

Practice Description

I see my clients once a week or every other week, depending on your needs. My office is attractive and comfortable and parking is available. Sessions are 50 minutes except for the first session which sometimes goes longer. I like to be paid at each session and I will give you a statement at the end of each month, if you want one, which you can submit to your insurance company. I also bill directly to BlueCross Blue Shield. If it is necessary, I am willing to slide my fees within a range which we can discuss when we meet.

“As we go through life, we accumulate experiences that shape us and our world view. Usually, we are not even aware of the effect these experiences have on us. Psychotherapy provides a place to unpack and review our life experiences in a safe environment with an eye to personal growth. Why did we act the way we did? What were we feeling at the time? Could we have acted differently? Could we do something different now? By understanding our core motivations, we can make choices to continue to act in accordance with them, or to change them.

My approach to therapy integrates both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral theories to discover the underlying conflicts and beliefs that cause surface dysfunction. I feel that reviewing past experiences and relationships is critical to understanding present behavior. Using this understanding, clients are encouraged to choose paths that foster new growth.”
